Post Truth

The Oxford Dictionary announced a couple weeks ago that "post-truth" is its 2016 word of the year.  According to the dictionary's website, the word is "an adjective defined as 'relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief.' "

Reality is now circumvented
No need to have facts documented
If you can conceive it
And people believe it
That is now truth - reinvented.

According to one well placed campaign manager, truth is not important what counts is that people believe it.

Oh what a web people weave
When people lie and deceive
Now all the proof
That is needed for truth
Is if other people believe.
